LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17, 9:30 am ET /PRNewswire/ — Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. announced today that it has concluded an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with music superstar Barry Gibb. As both leading member of the Bee Gees and the co-writer of the group’s remarkable body of work, Barry has been awarded six Grammys, inducted into the Rock & Roll Halls of Fame in both the U.S. and Australia, and been a part of one of the best-selling groups of all time. Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell will administer the rights to Gibbs’ legendary catalog of hit songs dating from 1967 to the present. The company will explore a variety of opportunities for Barry’s music, including licensing the material for use in films, television programs and commercials; facilitating publication of printed editions of Barry’s music; pursuing new revenue streams arising from the latest music-delivery technologies; and, encouraging other artists to record and perform the material In making the announcement, Les Bider, chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music said, “We are honored to welcome Barry and his outstanding body of work to Warner/Chappell. The remarkable breadth and depth of his music presents us with an array of opportunities related to his catalog as well as his extraordinary new material. Great companies are defined by great people and Warner/Chappell is to me that definition. This is a rebirth for me and I am truly inspired by their vote of confidence.”

Barry’s success as a member of the Bee Gees as well as a solo artist elevates him to rarified company, amongst the industry’s most successful songwriters and performers. The Bee Gees are the only group to have written and performed six consecutive No. 1 singles, and the first songwriters ever to have five songs in the top ten simultaneously. The Bee Gees have been honored by the music industry numerous times throughout their career with 16 Grammy nominations, induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and 10 Lifetime Achievement honors from organizations including the World Music Awards, American Music Awards and the Australian Recording Industry. From Robin’s record company we have the following news: Robin’s new single “Please” has been released to German radio this week, and it is already getting substantial airplay. SWR3 is known to be playing it, and it would be good to support Robin, if you’re listening to them, by sending them requests for it, telling them how much you like it, etc. You can listen live by going to www.swr3.de/startpage/index.html , click on the “Musik” link at the top of the page, and then click on the “Webradio” link at the left of the page, then click on the “Zu SWR3 live bitte hier lang” link. Here you can also give them feedback.

Also, you can now pre-order Robin’s Maxi-Single CD “Please”, with the added tracks “Watching You” and “Don’t Rush”, at www.amazon.de . Go there, search for Robin Gibb in Pop Musik and you’ll find it. However, it doesn’t recognize you from any purchase you’ve made at amazon.com, so you’ll have to understand German, one way or another, to register there. A great link with many translation options is http://translation.langenberg.com They do process orders from anywhere in the world. If you understand German, you can find some information on Robin’s new CD at www.spv.de/robingibb/default.html . However, we will continue to send you information as we get it, because there are things they are letting us know that they are either not posting there, or are posting much later.

Hope to have more soon, including some photos!

NEWS October 20th.

It’s quite an honor to me to be able to start a new item on my GSI web site soon.
Bob ShermanI was contacted by Bob Shermans’ son the other day with the suggestion to show his fathers photo material on this web site. I of course was overjoyed by this offer to get the opportunity to share with you, exclusively on my web site, the Gibb photos of Bob Sherman who was personal photographer of the Gibbs for many years.

Three movies with which the Bee Gees are closely identified have been released on DVD, some with special features! “Grease”, with title song by Barry, is available in both widescreen and regular formats, Dolby 5.1 sound, and includes interviews with John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, Jeff Conaway, Didi Conn, director Randall Kleiser, and producer Allan Carr, the theatrical trailer, and, while supplies last, a songbook!
Next is the DVD release of “Saturday Night Fever”! The best-selling movie soundtrack worldwide, thanks to our Brothers! The DVD is available in widescreen format only, and includes commentary by director John Badham, scenes from “Behind the Music-SNF”, three deleted scenes, and Dolby 5.1 sound!
Finally, there’s the DVD of “Staying Alive” DVD, the sequel to “Saturday Night Fever”. While not as successful as a movie, the soundtrack was successful, and includes the Bee Gees “Woman In You”, “I Love You Too Much”, “Breakout”, “Someone Belonging To Someone”, “Life Goes On”, and, of course, “Stayin’ Alive”. The DVD will be widescreen only, with Dolby 5.1 sound.

Spencer Gibb’s band, 54 Seconds, have updated their website with 4 brand new MP3s, and more.

Maurice and Yvonne bought another house in Miami for over 7 million, dollar It’s a 13,447 square. ft. house on a triple lot and situated on one of the Miami Beach islands with 320 ft of waterfront, 13 bedrooms and 9 baths……Meanwhile, Maurice is selling his previous Miami home, which has a recording studio and it’s own waterfall. It’s just down the road from the other brothers Gibb. A woman named Jennifer Lopez has by the way bought the house between Robin and Barry this year.

Bernie Quayle of ManxRadio, Isle of Man, has put together a fifteen minute video tour, narrated by the Brothers’ mum, Barbara, of the Isle of Man sites that are significant for the Bee Gees! Entitled “This Is Our Home”, the video is available from Bernie, and proceeds go to a charity for TT racers which was started by Barbara Wood. The video opens with shots of the Isle of Man coast, and Robin singing “Ellan Vannin”! Here is Bernie’s description of the video:

“Our Homes in Ellan Vannin.” was something I originally did for Barbara Gibb who has very fond memories of her times living on the Isle of Man and she often asked me about people and places she knew. One of Barry’s very first fans is featured in the film, she shows where the cottage was when she lived next door to them in Spring Valley. Barry was only about 7 at the time and Barbara Wood was so impressed and loved the name, she called her first son Barry. He became a very successful motorcycle racer but suffered serious injuries in a crash. Barbara started a fund to help riders and named it after the most successful of all TT riders who was killed racing. It’s called “The Joey Dunlop Injured Riders Fund”. Thanks to Barry Gibb’s suggestion, this video is now being offered to fans so that 25% of the proceeds are donated to that fund. It is available in both PAL and NTSC formats. For fans in Europe the price is 10 pounds plus 2 pounds post and packing. For fans in America it is 20 dollars, which includes air-mail shipping and handling. You can pay by either sending cash, either pounds or dollars, or by PayPal. As we’re not able to process credit cards, PayPal is the next best thing. It is fast becoming the most popular and safest way to pay on-line. See. www.paypal.com

NEWS, October 15th.

GSI was recently contacted by the co author of the book: , “Rock ‘n’ Roll, Year By Year” which will be published by Dorling Kindersley next September. He was very interested in some information about The Bee Gees from GSI and management. This book will of course include plenty of Bee Gees facts and information to reflect their position as one of the most important and successful groups/writers in rock history. GSI will of course keep you up to date about the plans for this book and later on about the possibilities to obtain it etc. etc.

The latest on Robin and his solo project:
For the moment the working title of Rob’s new CD is simply: “Robin” and it will contain tracks written by Robin, the Bee Gees, and material from other writers. The first single off the CD is planned to be a track called “Please”, and will be sent to radio in the UK in December. It likely won’t be available in the shops to purchase until January 13, although this date isn’t firm yet. Release plans for other areas of the world haven’t yet been decided. Let’s be sure, as fans, to request this single with the radio stations when it is there, and also order the single from your local outlets, to show that there is a demand for it! Robin is planning to do several television appearances to support the CD, and be assured that the BGFC will keep you informed as they are scheduled, just as soon as we know!
Click here to surf to the web site of the German record label SPV (news only in German)

Barry has done backup on some tracks of his eldest son Stevie who is still working on new tracks for his planned album. Next to that Stevie is also working with some other musical friends as well as some of the Bee Gees Band like Steve Rucker, George Perry and Hal Roland. So we are very much looking forward to his work too!

Maurice lately took some extra holiday before the group goes back to work. Of course he used some of his time to enjoy his paintball hobby. By the way for those of you who wondered who the lady is who has appeared in some of the ads for Mo’s Paintball Shop.. It’s indeed the woman on the Rat Rangers Team and by the way: the cool background of the ad was done by Maurice! www.mospaintball.com

Robin’s Solo CD!!

©  T. Bridge

Now we can tell you . . . on September 26, 2002, Robin reached an agreement with a CD label in Germany to release his solo CD! He has been working on the material while he’s been in England over these last months, but has only just made the agreement. The title, track list, etc. isn’t ready for release just yet, but he is hoping that the CD, or at least certainly the single from it, will be ready before Christmas. We’re not quite sure what the scope of the release will be at this point that is, exactly how many countries the CD will be released in; however, with Internet sources that shouldn’t be a problem for anyone to get the CD who wants it (and of course, the BGFCtm will be helping with this as well if possible!). We’re really excited, and we all wish Robin the greatest success!

   Latest on Bee Gees CD!!
Now, what does the future hold for new Bee Gees CD? A new Bee Gees’ CD is, of course planned for the near future too. At this point they are looking at putting new material together, and coming together, to work on the new CD in the Spring of 2003, after Robin has time to work on his own CD, the promotion of it, any appearances he needs to make, and all of what goes into any new CD! They don’t want him to feel “conflicted” in what he has to do, or to feel he can’t give his full attention to his new CD, which is understandable! So first the solo project followed by the new Bee Gees CD!! Once the Bee Gees’ new CD is “in the can”, then they can look at appearances, concerts, etc., probably the following year. We’ll be keeping everyone up to date, on both works, as the information is ready for release!

BGFCTM offer for the David English book!!

We’ve told you earlier about the book David English has written. Interested in more details or maybe would you like to order it? Please visit the following addresses: www.amazon.co.uk or www.virginbooks.com

Latest details on the CBE presentation:
The presentation to the Brothers now will likely take place sometime early next year, as the Queen’s schedule with her Jubilee tour and all has made schedule coordination for the rest of 2002 difficult. Ceremony or not, the honor is theirs!

Two CD manufacturing companies in Brazil were recently handed the largest music piracy fines ever assessed in South America. The Bee Gees’ CD’s were one of the artists which they were pirating.

“The Record” continues to do well around the world, as it enters and reenters the charts in Australia, ( last week it went there from 49 tot 44 again) the Netherlands and other countries!

Maurice has been busy with his paintball store, of course, and the team recently competed in tournaments in New Jersey and most recently in London, UK! This one was the Campaign Cup, which was the European Paintball Championships! “The Royal Rat Rangers” competed in the Novice division, where they finished high enough to make the semis! As only 11 of the 80 teams advanced, this was great! Only 4 teams advanced to the finals, however, and the Rangers didn’t qualify, but as a young team, they’re doing very well!

NEWS, May 28th.

Although magazines lately may have written articles about a new BG company, management reports us: The Brothers are not setting up an Entertainment Company at the moment but one may have speculated about the possibilities lately during interviews.

The brothers are in a period of writing and making demos although no definite plans have been made according to a new record release date at this stage. We keep you posted when and how new plans develop the coming months.

The CBE presentation will likely be in the last quarter of this year. No date set yet.

Here is some information on three CDs which are released in Japan.

NEWS, April 23rd.

The BGFC-BRUNCH EVENT was a huge success again. Like last year when we’d organized this kind of small BG meeting for the first time we again decided to organize such a day for interested fans in the heart of The Netherlands. We had a great day on April 14th in Leusden. It all started of course with a champagne welcome drink for all the guests in our special BGFC brunch hall. Followed by a wonderful cold and warm buffet . Great to see old friends again and make new ones while enjoying this wonderful brunch buffet. The brunch ended with a sparkling dessert. Afterwards there was time enough to sit and chat some more, drink some more while watching a number of very nice Bee Gees videos.

The Bee Gees hadn’t forgotten the event as well and some days before I’d received a beautiful coloured and personally signed photo of the guys to give to Ineke van Vliet who’s celebrating her 50th anniversary this month and I had planned to congratulate her during this brunch event with something special. Thanks guys for this lovely present. On the photo you see Ineke with her present from Miami Beach. ( photo taken by Rosalien Beks) More photos of the Brunch event later maybe on this website or in the Dimensions magazine. What the next BGFC event is going to be? Who knows!!! Maybe the huge international Meeting of next October or maybe even another event this summer, we’ll see and keep you updated on all the news and events on this website, so stay tuned and do not miss a thing!!

After having asked about a possibility of re mastering many old Bee Gees albums management told us that all the Bee Gees CD’s will no doubt be mastered in time. (perhaps with bonus tracks) but this will not likely start until 2005

On April 7th. Celine Dion did a tv special to promote her new album: A New Day Has Come. She performed the Bee Gees’ song: “Emotion” together with Destiny’s Child. www.cbs.com

We all know about the love of the brothers for music and musical instruments, For instance Barry and Maurice have already used countless different guitars throughout the years during their performances and recordings. Maurice always loved his Rickenbackers of which he gave away several already in the past and BG fans nowadays are searching everywhere on the market to find back the old musical instruments that were once used by the group. Sometimes they even succeed and send us their stories and photos. On the Rickenbacker registration page you can see several photos of Maurice with his instruments: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca click then: artists – master list – artists ‘B’- click Maurice Gibb (Bee Gees) for the photos.

At the moment GSI, management and Maurice are trying to find out if the guitar of this fan indeed is one of the old guitars once used by Maurice.

You’ve asked for some more details about the album: “Relaxin’ with Lovers volume 1” we’ve mentioned earlier about on this website. Label: Ki/oon Records, Country: Japan and CD number: KSCP922

News, April 28th

On Friday, March 30th there was a Bee Gees Day held on Dutch Radio 2.
During that day DJ’s played Bee Gees music in every program.
Also there was much attention for the new album and an interview with Robin.
Of course BGFC-Europe took part in this day too!!
In the studio from left to right: Marion, Annelies, Marcel and dj Jeroen

First I was interviewed during the day through telephone by one of the people of Radio 2 and later that day I was invited to come to the studios with some fans to take part of a live show.
So we drove to the Media Park in Hilversum ( me, together with my husband, Annelies van Velse and Marcel Troost and his wife) and were interviewed during the live show of that evening in which they broadcast two live concerts of The Bee Gees.

DJ   Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte

We talked about the group, their successes and ups and downs through the many years of their being in show business. Mentioned their new album and talked about our meetings with the group and what we loved about their music etc. etc.
DJ Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte himself was enthusiastic about the Bee Gees music as well.
Just before the live concert broadcast of The Bee Gees started, there was a Dutch group called Kapitein Rob who did their own live version of the Bee Gees song Jive Talkin’ which sounded very surprising.

Marion BGFC-Europe.

In the Cadena’s 100 charts in Spain the single is climbing up to 9 coming from 11 and Spain is dreaming of a number one position already (AITOR)
Austria: number 42 (Thomas Blecha)
Britain:was number 18, so they were in the regular Top Of The Pops this week.
Now it has dropped to 26 but the album entered the charts at 6 being the highest new entry.
In 1997 “Still Waters” also entered at that position.
Also “ONO” entered again at number 43 (Richard Donoghue, Peter Hofman)
Holland, it’s dropping at the moment but…
The sales for the CD which was released here April second ( although it was already in the shops some days before!) are good and one expects the album to enter high in the Dutch Top 100 this week.
We’ll keep you posted.
The single meanwhile gets a lot of airplay and there’s a TV commercial campaign starting for the album.
We still have hopes that one is succeeding in getting the group to The Netherlands after the release of the second single!!
This second single in The Netherlands could become: “She Keeps On Coming” however nothing is certain yet!

BGFC did receive an allotment of tickets for the A&E “Live by Request” show, and because of the limited numbers of tickets, each member who received tickets was allotted only one. Also, because of the limited numbers, they are only being given to members of the BGFC (including BGFC-Europe).
The tickets are being distributed on the basis of the list compiled by Terri Bridge from the requests emailed to her, and they are being distributed first come, first served according to the list.
Some members of BGFC-Europe have received tickets too!

Bee Gees successful in Taiwan – ARTIST OF THE MONTH
The TIWICI promo is in many of Taiwan TV channels every day, including the whole video, and the making of the video.
Taiwan honors them as the Artist of the Month.
And the new CD also got a very special release package in Taiwan, it has an extra 48 pages booklet in Chinese, including many pictures, biography, interviews.
The title is something like: “When you open the English pop music history”, it’s all up to the Bee Gees!
Isn’t it great? since that is only for the limited first edition, it’s nearly sold out.

News from the album charts:
New Zealand: 6
Switzerland: 5
U.K.: from 6 to 8

In addition, this week on the UK charts, Lil Bow Wow’s new single, “That’s My Name”, uses extensive samples from Andy Gibb’s ’78 hit “Shadow Dancing”.
This therefore gives the Bee Gees their second UK Top 20 writing credit in as many weeks!
The first was, of course, their own “This Is Where I Came In” single!

Fleetwood Owen, a highly respected English auction house, is auctioning off an autographed Ovation guitar donated by the Bee Gees!

This guitar was played by Maurice during the “Spirits” tour.
The auction is to benefit the Acres Foundation in Scotland, who provide advanced training in the Arts for young talented Scots from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The auction begins April 6 – more information available from their web site!

You don’t know where the items which came directly from Middle Ear Studio are now being auctioned?

News Flashes March 19th.

The Bee Gees At Wetten Dass

Saturday Night the group was again guest at Wetten Dass, a famous German game show.
They’ve performed in this show several times before during other promotion tours.
And it’s a fact that the host of this show Thomas Gottschalk is a true Bee Gees fan himself.
This time it was the 20th anniversary of the Wetten Dass Show.
Thomas Gottschalk announced the group enthusiasticly and the boys seemed to have a good time.
The Bee Gees, accompanied by their band were looking great and all three were wearing sunglasses.
The group being on stage for over 40 years already did it again: a great new song of a brand new album!!
Thomas introduced them by telling the audience about the millions of records they’d already sold and the many number one hits they’d scored.
Telling them that April 2nd the Bee Gees’ new CD would be released after we’d to wait for 4 years.
And he shouted: here they are The Bee Gees with “This Is Where I Came In”…..
The audience welcomed them with much applause and after the intro we heard the bright sounds of Maurice on his guitar.
Robin doing the lead and both Maurice and Barry at his site each playing guitar.
During the song Barry, like always, waved and smiled to familiar faces in the crowd.
And Alan Kendall enjoyed playing the sharp tones every time during the chorus!!
The group definitely liked to be in front of the audience again.
Afterwards there was lots of applause and the public shouted their names etc.
Thomas comments: – what I specially admire about you, you always come back and never with old fashioned music but with very modern, very new and great music. It’s really unique.
It’s a great song, thank you.
The Bee Gees, Barry, Robin and Maurice, The Bee Gees. –

Some more air dates for you.
Of course there’s Top Of The Pops on BBC 1 on both April 4 and 7 and GMTV on March 26th.

In Italy the single was finally released too on March 13th.
But according to Robin there’s no promotion planned yet for Italy at the moment.

On March 30th when The Netherlands have their Bee Gees Day on Radio2 the entire CD will be played and DJ’s have already stated to be very enthusiastic about this new album of The Bee Gees.
They strongly believe it’s going to become a hit album.
By the way we’ve heard that this day will be partly presented by Mr. Robin Gibb himself, by means of a pre -recorded interview, taped last week in London.

The new single entered the Dutch Mega Top Hundred at 71.
What’s it doing in your country???
Let us know and we can make a chart list of the several countries, very interesting for all fans to read!!

The appearance of Robin Gibb in an interview on the Dutch TV program Hart Van Nederland will not take place the coming week but is programmed for the period when the new album is going to be released in Holland, so around April 2nd.

Finally more news

We’re glad being able to finally publish some latest news again.
This weekend Left Bank gave the okay to bring the news out in the open but I must say it’s always difficult for us to wait for their okay as news mostly is known to us much earlier.
Anyway, like I said it’s good to be able to bring it to you now!!

Thanks again to Dick Ashby, Terri Bridge and the webmasters of LeftBank (Karen Holmes, Mike Lane) for helping us keeping the site up to date again.

As you all know there are plans for a VH1 programme which will be aired live on November 30th. from Los Angeles’ Schrine Auditorium.
It’s going to be an award show entirely suggested and voted on by the fans.
One has sifted through many category and artists suggestions to arrive at a list of potential nominees in 28 categories.
According to VH1 the fun is about to begin this weekend ( September 23 and 24th):

“ The on-air and on-line promotion of the show gets heayv now.
We are expecting record numbers of fans to cast their votes for their favorite artists and music.
And if fans don’t see their favorite artist in a particular category, they can write ’em in on the ballot.
No vote will go un-counted…everyone has a voice!
Fans can respond through October 10th, at which time we will begin counting the ballots to ascertain the final nominees.
We will announce the five final nominees for each category on October 20th.
From there it’s a race to the finish line on November 30th.
Votes will be taken until the very moment that each presenter walks on stage to speak the words we all want to hear “and the winner is…” Oh yeah, there will also be music.
Eight of the biggest bands this year will be taking the stage to show off why 2000 was their year.
All this at the start of the Christmas CD buying season.
What could be better?”.

Please vote for our Bee Gees!!!
All Bee Gees fans should write in THE BEE GEES for “Legends In Action”!!

>>>As for the Ronan track: the official version says that the song: ‘Lovers And Friends’ was taken off the CD as Ronan’s management’s response to a last minute need to shorten the album (too many songs for the cd <G>).
As can be seen from the credits, this caught many people by surprise including the label staff and the Bee Gees, especially Barry!!

>>>The latest on the A&E Biography is that the debut for the U.S.A. is planned for December 10th.
And the re-air around the time of the album release.
It will also be licensed to broadcasters around the world and as soon as we have these broadcast dates we’ll let you know!!
Also the Biography will be released on home video and in a special enhanched version on DVD.
This is worldwide but release dates will differ in various parts of the globe.
Release dates to be determined, but definitely in 2001!

>>>The working title (and we think it’s definite) for both album and first single is “THIS IS WHERE I CAME IN”.
The single will be serviced to radio in Europe in February, in America in March, with the album following by 3-4 weeks. Exact dates will be announced soon.

>>>The vocal duo of Nite & Day have recorded a cover version of “How Deep Is Your Love” … and believe it or not, it’s a salsa dance version!
That would be interesting to hear.

>>>Barbra Streisand is currently conducting her four-concert “farewell to live performing” tour, and during the concert, she performs “duets” with videos of artists with whom she’s recorded duets in the past, similar to what Celine did with “Immortality” in concert.
One of the duets she performs is with Barry, though we don’t know what song she chose to.

>>>”One Night Only” remains a strong performer on the Billboard Top 40 Music Video chart, as it is currently at #33 in its 88th week on the chart perform.

>>>Maurice has been working with Sam, Adam, and Sam’s boyfriend Laz (collectively known as Luna Park) again on a couple of songs, which they’ve been playing for representatives.
These kids are fantastic. Sam has a soulful edge to her voice, and Adam, while there’s a hint of Maurice every now and again, definitely has his own sound.
Their sound is more mainstream pop….and we’d buy it in a heartbeat.

>>> Outside the United States, the play will open in Edinburgh in November.
Its Australian opening was delayed by the Olympics but the show should open in Sydney some time early in 2001.

>>> In case you haven’t seen it, an of Vanity Fair earlier this year proclaimed The Bee Gees IN!”

While it hasn’t charted yet…maybe some phone calls might help it out!
