How the Gibbs live in England
Barry, Linda and their family / part 2
Barry & Linda Gibb
Sometimes he has suddenly gotten it up to here being in his homeland.
“I hate the English weather, all that cold and rain I just cannot stand it and next to that the weather in England simply isn’t doing very good to my health.”
Barry has been suffering from arthritis for years already and at nights it even keeps him out of his sleep at times when he hardly can move his hands and feet.
“It really is bothering him,” says Linda his wife, who just enters the living room putting a tray with tea and nice cookies on the huge glass table.
“I often hear him at night when he is in pain, but unfortunately there hasn’t been a doctor yet who could help him adequately.”
She really worries about her husband.
They have been happily married for years already ( since 1970), which you can say is a little miracle in show business these days!!
One has written about Barry he may have had affairs with Barbra Streisand ( for whom he did the album Guilty), with Diana Ross ( Chain Reaction) and with Dionne Warwick ( who’s album Heartbreaker was done by Barry), but people write and gossip so much…
Barry and Alexandra in the livingroom. Around them are many pictures of family, friends and people from the show business
Barry is still very happily married to his Linda.
Linda is always with him, she goes where Barry goes in most cases and when Barry and Linda feel the need to leave England and its weather behind for a while then they simply take their youngest daughter Ali and fly away to their other house in Florida ( U.S.A.)
“I just love the climate over there, it never becomes winter and cold.
That’s an enjoyment for my health.”
He really seems to like the American sunshine. With a beautiful suntan, good looking and fit he poses with Linda in front of their swimming pool.
Barry: “How we have met?
That was back in 1967 when the Bee Gees did a performance at Top Of The Pops for the BBC.
After the show I asked Linda to come and drink some tea with me and three years later we got married”.
They got 4 sons and one daughter: Alexandra who came rather unexpected.
Barry: “We’d dreamed a lot of getting a daughter and so we were extremely happy.
This last pregnancy didn’t go by without any problems however!
Ali was born much too early. For several months the family was poised between hope and fear and Ali was fighting for her life.
It took some months of tension and fear but then finally Ali came home.
Nowadays, Ali enjoys the large garden of the house and plays the music of her dad and uncles.
Barry: “No problem when she plays the music very loud ’cause Bee Gees music is in again!!.”
