Today GSI received some updated info While in the UK for 2 weeks Barry will appear on the Royal Variety show, December 6th. He will be closing the ‘Royal Variety Gala’. Next to that Barry will be taping his interview with Pier Morgan – Life Stories (ITV), which will not air however until somewhere in 2017. ( the date is still to be determined). Unfortunately there haven’t been sold enough tickets and the Kiel concert of September 23. has to be cancelled. Plans of selling the project to outside Europe are on the way, more about that later. Tickets can be returned to the respective booking office where you purchased I understand. I have been in touch already with the group of fans who would go with me backstage before the earlier planned Siegen show and who did ask to use their Siegen tickets for Kiel.

“There is one song: “End Of The Rainbow” which I dedicate to Robin. I sang a verse of the song to Robin when he was in a coma, about two weeks before he passed and I don’t know if he heard it or not. But I sang it anyway, I’m yet to sing it live and the lyrics reflect what I hope are my correct feelings. There’s one [song] called “Starcrossed Lovers” that I dedicate to my wife. I’ve tried just to touch on all of the best influences in my entire life. It’s really getting into the songwriting as deep as I can get. I’m very proud of this album. It’s an album that’s like a journey, it’s my opinion of life today, the culture, the songs reflect all those things. It’s not a disco album at all. It’s an album of thoughts that range 60 years and different influences over the years. It’s very autobiographical, not consciously, but sub consciously. There are a lot of lyrics that are quite abstract but if you think about it deeply enough, like a painting, there are a lot of thoughts that are real behind abstract words. I hope that it makes sense.” ‘Angels’ from the Shepherds and Butchers movie will not be released as a single and I am not sure if there will be a sound track album as this is the only song in the movie so the rest would be instrumental music. When we have more details maybe about a download version we’ll let you know. Barry’s new activities will be done on the Columbia label (Sony Music) and their international team is working with each country on local releases. More about that closer to the release dates. GSI will keep you updated about everything so stay tuned. DON’T FORGET to sign up to Barry’s YouTube channel so you don’t miss the live stream on August 20th. There were plans already for quite some time that Vince would take the stage again to perform BG music. While he’s living in Britain again he got more and more in touch with the Italian Bee Gees and even visited them at home in Italy last month (see information in the IBG part of the GSI website) to talk over some plans. March 9th. he came over to Germany to join the tour of The Italian Bee Gees and did some rehearsing with them, Blue Weaver and Dennis Bryon the day afterwards. March 11th. we all could see him on stage in the Massachusetts show, the tribute to The Bee Gees, in Erfurt Germany. Vince will continue to tour with the Massachusetts show until the end of the tour: April 25th. Vince also has plans of releasing a new album soon, with Bee Gees music in new arrangements etc. More news about him and his plans on GSI website when available. IBG

Titanic Live Concerts
We are happy to announce that the past week several more dates for the Titanic Live Concerts in Germany have been confirmed. Very good news!! (see for dates/venues etc. the GSI frontpage: concert list) scroll down! ‘Shepherds and Butchers’ won an award at The Berlin Film festival
The film, produced by Singh and directed by Oliver Schmitz, was awarded the third place Panorama Audience Award for Fiction Films – a first for a South African Film. The film also features the song “Angels”, a collaboration between Barry Gibb, co-founder of the Bee Gees, and Vusi Mahlasela. www.timeslive.co.za The film will likely not be on general release until later this year, so we doubt the full version of Barry’s song will be available until then. “Shepherds and Butchers,” which stars Steve Coogan (“Philomena”), Andrea Riseborough (“Birdman”) and Garion Dowds, is set at a time when Apartheid is crumbling in South Africa. This week during the Massachusetts Tour of The Italian Bee Gees ( a tribute musical about our Bee Gees), the Titanic organization announced more confirmed dates and places for concerts in Germany of the Titanic Live Concert World Tour. Also the new trailer of the Titanic event was shown to the Massachusetts Tour audience in Germany!!

Robert Stigwood, statement of his death
In a statement, Robert Stigwood’s office said last night: “The world lost a pioneer in the entertainment industry today”. (January 4th.) Robert Stigwood passed away this morning. “He died of a heart attack at home this morning with his loved ones at his side.” Stars have already begun sharing tributes online following the news, and Andrew Lloyd Webber shared snaps of him throughout his huge career. He wrote: “Farewell beloved Robert, the great showman who taught me so much. With love, ALW.”

Robert Stigwood has passed away.

Robert was born on 16 April 1934 and an Australian music entrepreneur and impresario, best known for managing Cream and the Bee Gees. From Australia, he relocated to England in 1954. In the 1960s and 1970s he was one of the most successful figures in the entertainment world, through his management of music groups like Cream and The Bee Gees, theatrical productions like Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar and film productions including the hugely successful Saturday Night Fever.

I would like to share the sad news with you all, that my godfather, and the longtime manager of my family, Robert Stigwood, has passed away. A creative genius with a very quick and dry wit, Robert was the driving force behind The Bee Gees career, as well as having discovered Cream, and subsequently managing Eric Clapton. He was also of course, the creator of the movies Saturday Night Fever and Grease, and many Broadway musicals with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. RSO Records pretty much defined the late 70’s. Of course, his biography is very extensive and can easily be found online….. I would like to thank Robert for his kindness to me over the years as well as his mentorship to my family. “Stiggy”, you will be missed.

Barry Gibb to appear on the Royal Variety show 2016 in the U.K.
The show takes place at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith on 6 December and will be broadcast on ITV.
David Walliams has been announced as the host of this year’s Royal Variety Performance.Sting, Robbie Williams and Emeli Sande are among the acts who will be performing in front of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The show takes place at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith on 6 December and will be broadcast on ITV.Walliams said he was “very honoured and excited” to be hosting the show for a second time. “I was lucky enough to host back in 2012 so will be looking forward to another fabulous evening with huge talent”. At the moment Florida is dealing with hurricane Matthew. Yesterday I had contact with Miami as I was concerned about their situation regarding hurricane Matthew. I heard that The Gibb Family was expecting that they would live far enough south in Florida and therefore Matthew wouldn’t do too much harm. Indeed in the south I understand things are okay now, thanks! ‘A couple of weeks ago I had the honour of chatting to Barry Gibb for 45 minutes ahead of the release his new album In The Now. I’m doing various different things with the interview (radio, newspaper, magazine) including this series on my website http://www.roxboroghreport.com/ The idea for the series on my blog is to give diehard Bee Gees fans some stuff they may not have heard before. Part 1 focuses on the wonderfully strange and unusual song structures of some of the Bee Gees best known tracks. Hope you enjoy it, part 2 coming up in a day or so’.
‘Find out the late period Bee Gees songs Barry desperately wanted to be singles, where he’d like to one day be buried, the full backstory on how You Should Be Dancing was created, why he would pretend to be sick as a child, how his upcoming tour will differ from the Mythology Tour, what he thinks the greatest song of all time is and just how much influence his wife Linda has on his professional life. And of course, there will be an exploration into the sonic and lyrical inspirations on In The Now – just his second official solo album after 1984’s Now Voyager, though fourth if you count the unreleased The Kid’s No Good from 1970 and the Hawks soundtrack in 1988.

Barry’s future plans
In several interviews he mentioned already another new album and touring!!!
Barry did several interviews after his performance with Coldplay mentioning his plans and future.. Whether he would fill the Legend slot at next year’s festival, he replied: “Next year it’s Diana Ross. I don’t know where I’m going to fit.”
Barry will certainly be on the bill somewhere.
After his incredible cameo with Coldplay last week, the singer has been asked by Glasto bosses Michael and Emily Eavis to come back next year for a solo set. Speaking at the O2 Nordoff-Robbins Silver Clef Awards, Barry revealed: “The people there were very kind to me and suggested a show perhaps next year. I would love to return to Glastonbury”. “But if it’s not next year, it will be the year after, as I’ll be on the road anyway.”
Barry has just signed a new deal with Sony RCA and later this year will release his first solo album in more than 30 years, called “In The Now”.
The last surviving Bee Gee will continue to fly the flag for disco but there is new material in the works too. Barry added: “The last number of shows (Mythology Tours) I’ve been doing, have been paying tribute to my family and my brothers but that will change next time. It will be more about me as an individual seizing life.”

Universal Music Japan released the remastered version of the soundtrack to the Sg. Pepper film on June 29th. This surprising choice is actually a part of the project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ one and only visit to Japan. The new 2-CD package includes the poster (smaller) that was in the original 1978 release as well as the reproduced “obi” strip from it.

Also, a Taiwanese film inspired by the Bee Gees song and titled “First of May” was released in Tokyo, etc. in May. http://beegeedays.com
First of May is actually one of the best-known and best-loved Bee Gees songs in Japan due mostly to the success of the 1971 film “Melody” here which used the song very effectively. There was also a Japanese TV series called First of May in 1996 which also featured the Bee Gees version of the song. Starring Kinki Kids, who were like the biggest heartthrobs in Japan back then, the TV series about growing up in the ’90 Tokyo, got good ratings. Consequently, Universal Music compiled a special collection of Bee Gees hits and called it First of May. It sold very well over here.

I knew this was something all dear BG fans didn’t want to miss.

There was love and respect for our Barry last night. What an honour to The Brothers Gibb and their music. It simply felt so good to see you again on stage. Finally in the middle of the great Coldplay performance there was an announcement to honour the Bee Gees music and…… Chris Martin suggested to call a real Bee Gee on stage and there he was: our Barry. He and Chris and his band performed an acoustic To Love Somebody followed by Staying Alive with the complete band. (with help of Doug Emery and John Merchant) There was so much respect in the audience of over 150.000 people for this man and the Brothers Gibb music. The whole Coldplay show was a great, colourful experience and the audience had received special LED wristbands that lighted up in all kinds of colours.

please do not worry. Barry’s album is in excellent hands, and it will come out when it’s ready (and not sooner.) If you would, please let the fans know that they will not be disappointed, I promise! When Barry is ready to let the world know about any live performances, he will announce it on a grand scale. Yes, the song for the film is beautiful and that should be out quite soon. Barry Gibb Statement, Re: Robert Stigwood Robert Stigwood was an enigma. A victorian figure cast into the sixties to work with Brian Epstein and The Beatles. He hitch hiked from Adelaide to London with a powerful vision to rule the entertainment world. He was almost aristocratic in nature , the mixture of talent and insight from the moment you met him was omnipresent. He signed us as his group at a moment in time when groups were not being signed. The odds against us having successes very high but Robert took an act of faith and against the advice of others, became our manager. He also became a member of our family and all the success we had was because of Robert Stigwood.
On behalf of Linda and our family we wish you God speed. Every time the first of May comes around i will think of you and i will miss your phone call. We shared so many wonderful moments. I will never forget you my dear friend.

I would like to share the sad news with you all, that my godfather, and the longtime manager of my family, Robert Stigwood, has passed away. A creative genius with a very quick and dry wit, Robert was the driving force behind The Bee Gees career, as well as having discovered Cream, and subsequently managing Eric Clapton. He was also of course, the creator of the movies Saturday Night Fever and Grease, and many Broadway musicals with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. RSO Records pretty much defined the late 70’s. Of course, his biography is very extensive and can easily be found online…..I would like to thank Robert for his kindness to me over the years as well as his mentorship to my family. “Stiggy”, you will be missed.

Robert Stigwood, the manager for Cream and the Bee Gees before producing a string of popular musicals and films including “Grease,” has died at 81, according to Mirror and TMZ. Stigwood, who died Monday, began working with Cream in 1966. He produced Cream’s self-titled debut and later signed a distribution deal with Polydor that brought producer Felix Pappalardi on board in time for 1967’s celebrated “Disreali Gears.” That same year, Stigwood merged his first company with NEMS, which was founded by Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein. But Epstein’s sudden death led Stigwood to form another venture, the Robert Stigwood Organisation. He was also managing the Bee Gees. His company worked on Eric Clapton’s post-Cream career, including his band Blind Faith, and his company began producing theatrical hits such as “Hair,” “Oh! Calcutta!,” “Pippin” and “Evita.” Stigwood then moved on to movie successes with the release of “Saturday Night Fever,” which featured the music of the Bee Gees, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Tommy” and “Grease,” which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. He ended up with a flop with the 1978 film version of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” another vehicle for the Bee Gees, as well as the sequels to “Saturday Night Fever” and “Grease.” Stigwood bounced back in the late ’90s, however, with the 1996 big-screen adaptation of “Evita” starring Madonna that won a Golden Globe for best motion picture. Robin Gibb’s son shared the sad news on Facebook to thank him for giving the Bee Gees their break, as he revealed he was his godfather. He wrote: “I would like to share the sad news with you all, that my godfather, and the longtime manager of my family, Robert Stigwood, has passed away. I would like to thank Robert for his kindness to me over the years as well as his mentorship to my family.
‘Stiggy,’ you will be missed.”
