Dwina Gibb: It was a lovely event held at The Melia White House Hotel in London, with a special ambiance created by the professional harpist, Elizabeth Green .
Severine Jeauneau (Sevy), who works for Red Feather (Schiffer Publishing) and is also my literary agent for this project, presented my Vedic Tarot to a group of well-known people in the industry.
Geraldine Beskin, owner of the famed Atlantis Book Shop in London that has been in her family and was originally established 108 years ago, spoke of our long friendship and our mutual interest in all the mysteries of religions and esoteric subjects. I remember saving up to buy Manly P. Hall’s Secret Teachings of All Ages and the ancient Gypsy Sorcery book by Charles Leyland when I was a student. I believe I bought my first Aquarian Tarot deck there. She kindly let me pay these off over several weeks. Her daughter Bali was there too.
John Matthews and Caitlin Matthews also spoke at the event. They are renowned authors of Celtic and Western mysteries and mythology, having written over 200 books between them. John, a world authority on King Arthur, even advises filmmakers. They both encouraged me over the past years to bring this Tarot to fruition. Their own beautiful decks and deep interest in the connections between Eastern and Western philosophies have been a great source of inspiration.
Kim Arnold, who organizes the annual UK Tarot Conference attended by hundreds every year, honored me with her presence.
Philip-Carr-Gomm, the author and retired Druid Chief of OBOD (the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids), also attended. Philip asked me years ago to be a Patroness of the Order, and I’m proud to support the Mount Haemus Award each year for special research into the history of Druidry and related subjects.
Many others came, including family, friends, writers, journalists, and film producers, and I hope everyone had a good time .
Michael Garbutt helped enormously with PR and hotel arrangements, and my PA Eleanor was indispensable, along with the staff from MusicLore. Adrian Dite, the ex-Mayor of Thame, and his wife Ann attended, as did Steve, a musician and filmmaker, with his wife Yvonne, who had also helped with Robin’s exhibits at the Thame Museum.
Though Wil Kinghan couldn’t make it, I am eternally grateful for his contribution to the initial printing of the cards for publication.
The Melia Hotel is a very special place, and the staff, especially Ecaterina, were incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you!
I spoke about the creation of the Vedic Tarot, a journey that involved many travels in India, Brahmin meditations at Mount Abu in Rajasthan, visits to Japan, meetings with Tibetan Buddhists, and studies of early Christianity in Ireland. So many people to thank along this journey.
I hope all who purchase my cards and read the accompanying book feel the beautiful spiritual energy I’ve drawn from so many sources throughout my life as a seeker. May you all have love and blessings in your lives.
