Birthday Present For Sir Barry Gibb.
Wayne Guitars:
“I was tasked to help in finding this guitar for Barry Gibb for his 80th birthday.
It was a surprise gift. Nobody knew and nobody to know. We kept it quiet.
It’s a vintage 1950s Arnold Hoyer arch-top.
It’s an honor, number one to be a small part of Barry’s life.
I’ve restored and repaired about 70 of his personal guitars in the past few years. He has an amazing beautiful collection of fine instruments.
Each Guitar, all special pieces.
We found this Guitar to match one of his first guitars for one of the first television shows they did in the very beginning. Could not find it in the tobacco burst. But found one in Black that had plenty of promise and beautiful checkmarks. Found in Europe, purchased and sent to me to do my magic.
It was missing some binding the Pickguard mount was broken and missing a few pieces. So I made a few pieces and she is done.
Totally gave her the spa treatment, polished out the frets, oiled and beeswax the neck. With an awesome setup. Took it completely apart and cleaned everything removing all rust. I love my job. I love what I get to do. And for the people I get to do it for.

Marion/ GSI: “I just was in touch with Dick Ashby again about Barry’s birthday and of course Barry has celebrated with Linda and the family. They went out to dinner at a Miami Beach restaurant with the whole family on September 1st to celebrate their Anniversary and Barry’s birthday “
Concerning the guitar birthday gift this year Dick said:
“Yes I saw a picture of Barry playing a guitar in the early 60’s in Australia and we managed to find one in of all places ‘Reading’ in England and have it restored in Miami just in time for Barry’s birthday “.
Wayne’s Guitar World, has been working on a lot of guitars from the Gibb collection through the years”.
