Warner/Chappell Music Signs Worldwide Publishing Agreement With Barry Gibb Tuesday December 17, 9:30 am ET One of the Most Successful Songwriters in History – Allies With the World’s Leading Music Publishing Company

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17, 9:30 am ET /PRNewswire/ — Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. announced today that it has concluded an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with music superstar Barry Gibb. As both leading member of the Bee Gees and the co-writer of the group’s remarkable body of work, Barry has been awarded six Grammys, inducted into the Rock & Roll Halls of Fame in both the U.S. and Australia, and been a part of one of the best-selling groups of all time. Under the agreement, Warner/Chappell will administer the rights to Gibbs’ legendary catalog of hit songs dating from 1967 to the present. The company will explore a variety of opportunities for Barry’s music, including licensing the material for use in films, television programs and commercials; facilitating publication of printed editions of Barry’s music; pursuing new revenue streams arising from the latest music-delivery technologies; and, encouraging other artists to record and perform the material In making the announcement, Les Bider, chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music said, “We are honored to welcome Barry and his outstanding body of work to Warner/Chappell. The remarkable breadth and depth of his music presents us with an array of opportunities related to his catalog as well as his extraordinary new material. With our strong relationships throughout the music and film communities, we are uniquely positioned to assist Barry with the next chapter of his phenomenal career. We look forward to working closely with Barry and putting our vast resources to work in finding new outlets for his music.”

Barry said, “I am very proud to be joining this incredible organization, and I look forward to a very exciting and mutually rewarding musical adventure. Great companies are defined by great people and Warner/Chappell is to me that definition. This is a rebirth for me and I am truly inspired by their vote of confidence.”

Barry’s success as a member of the Bee Gees as well as a solo artist elevates him to rarified company, amongst the industry’s most successful songwriters and performers. The Bee Gees are the only group to have written and performed six consecutive No. 1 singles, and the first songwriters ever to have five songs in the top ten simultaneously. The Bee Gees have been honored by the music industry numerous times throughout their career with 16 Grammy nominations, induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and 10 Lifetime Achievement honors from organizations including the World Music Awards, American Music Awards and the Australian Recording Industry. NEWS October 20th.

  •  It’s quite an honor to me to be able to start a new item on my GSI web site soon.
Bob Sherman I was contacted by Bob Shermans’ son the other day with the suggestion to show his fathers photo material on this web site. I of course was overjoyed by this offer to get the opportunity to share with you, exclusively on my web site, the Gibb photos of Bob Sherman who was personal photographer of the Gibbs for many years.

Three movies with which the Bee Gees are closely identified have been released on DVD,

some with special features! “Grease”, with title song by Barry, is available in both widescreen and regular formats, Dolby 5.1 sound, and includes interviews with John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing, Jeff Conaway, Didi Conn, director Randall Kleiser, and producer Allan Carr, the theatrical trailer, and, while supplies last, a songbook!

Next is the DVD release of “Saturday Night Fever”! The best-selling movie soundtrack worldwide, thanks to our Brothers! The DVD is available in widescreen format only, and includes commentary by director John Badham, scenes from “Behind the Music-SNF”, three deleted scenes, and Dolby 5.1 sound!

Finally, there’s the DVD of “Staying Alive” DVD, the sequel to “Saturday Night Fever”. While not as successful as a movie, the soundtrack was successful, and includes the Bee Gees “Woman In You”, “I Love You Too Much”, “Breakout”, “Someone Belonging To Someone”, “Life Goes On”, and, of course, “Stayin’ Alive”. The DVD will be widescreen only, with Dolby 5.1 sound.

Spencer Gibb’s band, 54 Seconds, have updated their website with 4 brand new MP3s, and more.
Just take a look at: www.54seconds.com

Maurice and Yvonne bought another house in Miami for over 7 million, dollar It’s a 13,447 square. ft. house on a triple lot and situated on one of the Miami Beach islands with 320 ft of waterfront, 13 bedrooms and 9 baths……Meanwhile, Maurice is selling his previous Miami home, which has a recording studio and it’s own waterfall. It’s just down the road from the other brothers Gibb. A woman named Jennifer Lopez has by the way bought the house between Robin and Barry this year.

Bernie Quayle of ManxRadio, Isle of Man, has put together a fifteen minute video tour, narrated by the Brothers’ mum, Barbara, of the Isle of Man sites that are significant for the Bee Gees! Entitled “This Is Our Home”, the video is available from Bernie, and proceeds go to a charity for TT racers which was started by Barbara Wood. The video opens with shots of the Isle of Man coast, and Robin singing “Ellan Vannin”! Here is Bernie’s description of the video:

“Our Homes in Ellan Vannin.” was something I originally did for Barbara Gibb who has very fond memories of her times living on the Isle of Man and she often asked me about people and places she knew. One of Barry’s very first fans is featured in the film, she shows where the cottage was when she lived next door to them in Spring Valley. Barry was only about 7 at the time and Barbara Wood was so impressed and loved the name, she called her first son Barry. He became a very successful motorcycle racer but suffered serious injuries in a crash. Barbara started a fund to help riders and named it after the most successful of all TT riders who was killed racing. It’s called “The Joey

Dunlop Injured Riders Fund”.

jdirflogo

Thanks to Barry Gibb’s suggestion, this video is now being offered to fans so that 25% of the proceeds are donated to that fund. It is available in both PAL and NTSC formats. For fans in Europe the price is 10 pounds plus 2 pounds post and packing. For fans in America it is 20 dollars, which includes air-mail shipping and handling. You can pay by either sending cash, either pounds or dollars, or by PayPal. As we’re not able to process credit cards, PayPal is the next best thing. It is fast becoming the most popular and safest way to pay on-line. See. www.paypal.com

NEWS, October 9th.

Robin’s Solo CD!!
Like mentioned before Robin is indeed working on getting his new solo CD ready for the market, which his record company is planning, at this point, to issue in early 2003. The first single from the CD they are planning to release before Christmas 2002, with Robin getting it to them sometime in November. The new CD has a working title of “Robin”, which obviously may change before release. Produced by songwriter/musician/producer Deacon Smith (who has worked with Ellusion, Aaron Skyy, Emoja, Ce Ce Winans, Dru Hill, and many others), the CD is planned to contain works by Robin, Robin and his brothers, and perhaps some works written by others. He is also planning to have some reworked Bee Gees/Robin cuts on the CD, including making tracks like “Wish You Were Here” and “Another Lonely Night In New York” more contemporary. He wants this CD to have a soulful, uptempo, “now” feel, and wants it to be full of songs that reach out and really “grab” the listener the first time it’s heard. Given that virtually *every* Robin CD has that initial impact, this one should be very special! We are very much looking forward to his new project and whenever more details become available for publication we’ll surely let you know.

   Nice to mention too:
The DVD One night Only went from 3 to 2 in the Dutch Free Chart this week!!

The Story of… the BEE GEES
Extra edition with Maurice Gibb interview on
1 april !!!

After four very successful live shows of THE STORY OF… THE BEE GEES in February, Radio 192 will broadcast a very special extra edition on April 1st (no joke) about Robin, Barry and Maurice Gibb: The Bee Gees.

During this series of Bee Gees shows we’d already requested to do an interview with one of the brothers. Due to lack of time this unfortunately couldn’t take place but another offer came to do a very extensive phone interview with Maurice Gibb.

On March 15th. we made the call. At about 5 in the afternoon

We contacted management and they put us through to Maurice who at that time was in Miami. It turned out the become a very special conversation about the feeling behind the music. Their enormous career with record sales of over 110 million and about 19 number 1 hits. And then we haven’t even mentioned the countless cover versions recorded by other artists. During the interview you’ll here all about their latest plans and their work on the new album which they are now working on in Miami and of which already three songs are ready in demo version. Also the group is going on world tour again after finishing this new album.

Everyone who likes to listen to this special interview just has to tune to Radio 192 on April first 2002 and listen to THE STORY OF… Between 20.00 and 22.00 hours local Dutch time (see for timetable the GSI or Radio 192 web sites)

Radio 192 is to be heard on Dutch cable as well as for each and everyone who has access to the Internet: world wide by audio stream: http://live.dds.nl/9.ram

NEWS January 12th.

  • LOVE AND HOPEAs many of you may know, each year the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation here in Miami holds a charitable fund-raising gala, the “Love and Hope Ball”. Barry and Linda Gibb are the International Chairpersons for this event, and this is the charity to which Barry requested that part of the money raised at BGFCTM-Europe’s recent international convention be given (and it was!). This year’s event will be held on Saturday, February 23, at the Fontainebleau Hilton Hotel in Miami Beach, and Barry and Maurice have agreed to entertain at the event! They will be playing a set consisting primarily of Beatles’ songs (that’s the thought as of now, anyway!), though who knows what they might come up with. The evening begins with cocktails at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner at 7:30 PM, which will then be followed by Barry and Maurice entertaining, and by dancing.

The evening is a formal, black-tie charity event, and is the major fund-raiser of the year for the Diabetes Research Institute. Admission to the Ball is $400 per person, though part of that total is a charitable contribution for tax purposes. The Diabetes Research Institute Foundation has invited the Bee Gees fans to join them on this auspicious occasion. The DRIF is handling all of the reservations and questions about tickets and seating. Here is the address and phone numbers you need to make reservations:

    Diabetes Research Institute Foundation

    Hollywood, FL 33021

    Phone: (954) 964-4040, or toll free (800) 321-3437

They accept checks, or MasterCard, Visa, or American Express. I hope that some of you will be able to come, and join in a very special evening, for a very special cause!

  • From Robin’s record company we have the following news: Robin’s new single “Please” has been released to German radio this week, and it is already getting substantial airplay. SWR3 is known to be playing it, and it would be good to support Robin, if you’re listening to them, by sending them requests for it, telling them how much you like it, etc. You can listen live by going to www.swr3.de/startpage/index.html , click on the “Musik” link at the top of the page, and then click on the “Webradio” link at the left of the page, then click on the “Zu SWR3 live bitte hier lang” link. Here you can also give them feedback.
  •  Also, you can now pre-order Robin’s Maxi-Single CD “Please”, with the added tracks “Watching You” and “Don’t Rush”, at www.amazon.de . Go there, search for Robin Gibb in Pop Musik and you’ll find it. However, it doesn’t recognize you from any purchase you’ve made at amazon.com, so you’ll have to understand German, one way or another, to register there. A great link with many translation options is http://translation.langenberg.com They do process orders from anywhere in the world. If you understand German, you can find some information on Robin’s new CD at www.spv.de/robingibb/default.html . However, we will continue to send you information as we get it, because there are things they are letting us know that they are either not posting there, or are posting much later.

Hope to have more soon, including some photos!

  • The latest on Robin and his solo project:

For the moment the working title of Rob’s new CD is simply: “Robin” and it will contain tracks written by Robin, the Bee Gees, and material from other writers. The first single off the CD is planned to be a track called “Please”, and will be sent to radio in the UK in December. It likely won’t be available in the shops to purchase until January 13, although this date isn’t firm yet. Release plans for other areas of the world haven’t yet been decided. Let’s be sure, as fans, to request this single with the radio stations when it is there, and also order the single from your local outlets, to show that there is a demand for it! Robin is planning to do several television appearances to support the CD, and be assured that the BGFC will keep you informed as they are scheduled, just as soon as we know!

NEWS, October 3rd.

  • Robin’s Solo CD!!
    robin-gsi-news
    ©  T. Bridge

Now we can tell you . . . on September 26, 2002, Robin reached an agreement with a CD label in Germany to release his solo CD! He has been working on the material while he’s been in England over these last months, but has only just made the agreement. The title, track list, etc. isn’t ready for release just yet, but he is hoping that the CD, or at least certainly the single from it, will be ready before Christmas. We’re not quite sure what the scope of the release will be at this point that is, exactly how many countries the CD will be released in; however, with Internet sources that shouldn’t be a problem for anyone to get the CD who wants it (and of course, the BGFCtm will be helping with this as well if possible!). We’re really excited, and we all wish Robin the greatest success!

  • Latest on Bee Gees CD!!
Now, what does the future hold for new Bee Gees CD? A new Bee Gees’ CD is, of course planned for the near future too. At this point they are looking at putting new material together, and coming together, to work on the new CD in the Spring of 2003, after Robin has time to work on his own CD, the promotion of it, any appearances he needs to make, and all of what goes into any new CD! They don’t want him to feel “conflicted” in what he has to do, or to feel he can’t give his full attention to his new CD, which is understandable! So first the solo project followed by the new Bee Gees CD!! Once the Bee Gees’ new CD is “in the can”, then they can look at appearances, concerts, etc., probably the following year. NEWS, April 23rd.

  •  The BGFC-BRUNCH EVENT was a huge success again. Like last year when we’d organized this kind of small BG meeting for the first time we again decided to organize such a day for interested fans in the heart of The Netherlands. We had a great day on April 14th in Leusden. It all started of course with a champagne welcome drink for all the guests in our special BGFC brunch hall. Followed by a wonderful cold and warm buffet . Great to see old friends again and make new ones while enjoying this wonderful brunch buffet. The brunch ended with a sparkling dessert. Afterwards there was time enough to sit and chat some more, drink some more while watching a number of very nice Bee Gees videos.

The Bee Gees hadn’t forgotten the event as well and some days before I’d received a beautiful coloured and personally signed photo of the guys to give to Ineke van Vliet who’s celebrating her 50th anniversary this month and I had planned to congratulate her during this brunch event with something special. Thanks guys for this lovely present. On the photo you see Ineke with her present from Miami Beach. ( photo taken by Rosalien Beks) More photos of the Brunch event later maybe on this website or in the Dimensions magazine. What the next BGFC event is going to be? Who knows!!! Maybe the huge international Meeting of next October or maybe even another event this summer, we’ll see and keep you updated on all the news and events on this website, so stay tuned and do not miss a thing!!

  • After having asked about a possibility of re mastering many old Bee Gees albums management told us that all the Bee Gees CD’s will no doubt be mastered in time. (perhaps with bonus tracks) but this will not likely start until 2005
  • On April 7th. Celine Dion did a tv special to promote her new album: A New Day Has Come. She performed the Bee Gees’ song: “Emotion” together with Destiny’s Child. www.cbs.com
  •  We all know about the love of the brothers for music and musical instruments, For instance Barry and Maurice have already used countless different guitars throughout the years during their performances and recordings. Maurice always loved his Rickenbackers of which he gave away several already in the past and BG fans nowadays are searching everywhere on the market to find back the old musical instruments that were once used by the group. Sometimes they even succeed and send us their stories and photos. On the Rickenbacker registration page you can see several photos of Maurice with his instruments: http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca click then: artists – master list – artists ‘B’- click Maurice Gibb (Bee Gees) for the photos.
  • platinum already!!
    (thanks Peter)

  • As you may have heard already BGFCTM-EUROPE is working on a huge Bee Gees radio project in The Netherlands together with a group of enthusiastic Dutch fans like: Annelies van Velse, Tom v.d. Berg and Ineke van Vliet. It’s going to be a number of great shows and will be heard through the Internet as well !! Soon we’ll inform you of course about these programmes on this GSI web site so stay tuned!!Marion: GSI 01/12/02

At the moment GSI, management and Maurice are trying to find out if the guitar of this fan indeed is one of the old guitars once used by Maurice.

  • You’ve asked for some more details about the album: “Relaxin’ with Lovers volume 1” we’ve mentioned earlier about on this website. Label: Ki/oon Records, Country: Japan and CD number: KSCP922

More details about the Australian Bee Gees cover band you can find here including the schedule for their American Tour: www.uptempo.com.au

Or maybe this site is interesting for you:
This link is specially for musicians interested in Bee Gees sheet music or songbooks. http://creativemusic.com

And when you are interested in buying a special CD then try and visit: www.cdeurope.com

The last tip for today:
www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk Click on the ‘view the screenshots’ link and then the thumbnails for some good shots.

There’s still been no decision made yet as to when the Brothers will receive their CBE’s. They have only received the dates for the first part of the year thus far, and haven’t received the later ones from the crown. Apparently, they are waiting for those before making a decision, so as of now, we don’t know when they’ll be getting them!

  • The guys have started working on the new album, with a few demos already completed. (More about this in the Radio 192/BGFC Maurice Gibb interview, soon on this web site). Each of the brothers already did some work at home for the next album, Robin and Maurice have been working in the studio together (a few weeks back), and Barry’s been doing some work at home as well. So the next Bee Gees CD is on its way…
  •  Maurice is once again working in the studio with Sam and Laz, and Adam is there learning more of the technical sides of the work, as they continue to work toward their career!
  • And speaking of Laz and Sam, Harlot has signed a publishing deal (not a recording contract) with BMG Music!
  • Go to www.vh1online.co.uk and vote for the Brothers. VH-1 is compiling another of their “100 Greatest” lists, and this one is the “100 Greatest Men of Rock” Click on the “Interact” link to go vote. You have until April 28.
  •  “Their Greatest Hits: The Record” has now gone platinum in the US, Chile, and Canada and maybe even some other countries too.

Maurice is still a rabid paintballer, and he played in a tournament at Beyond 2002 in Miami, where they finished 4th in the semi-finals, and 5th in the finals (long story). There are some more pictures up on the BGFC

Maurice’s paintball store will have its grand opening next month, he says… And, he is creating a new tournament, which will be called “The Commander’s Cup”.

Logo of “The Royal Rat Rangers” Paintball team of Maurice

He told us he hopes to make it the “Stanley Cup of paintball”, which, for those not familiar, is the award which the NHL (National Hockey League) Champion Hockey team receives each year. It’s still in the organizing stages at this point. And by the way BGFC president Terri Bridge made some photos during the last tournement Maurice and the Rangers are going to use for the information/registration folder for Maurice’s new tournament! Isn’t that something!!!

NEWS, January 28th

  •  The Bee Gees will probably get their CBE presented around the end of May during a private meeting in Britain. That’s all we have about this right now. No further definite and confirmed details.
  • On February 18 the group B3 from New York, of which we’ve reported earlier, will release their album “First”.

Their first single of this album: “You Win Again” is currently 15 in the Austrian charts and was about two weeks ago 19 in Germany. “Night Fever” became the second single and was released one week ago and even was already seen on VIVA in Germany. The group B 3 (Timothy 22, Rod 20 and John 18) seems to be very popular among very young people — under 16-year-olds or even younger… They seem to be a Bee Gees-equivalent to the A-Teens. Their album “First” consists of Gibb compositions. Except for the unknown song “Where I`ll Be” which is a song written by one of the three B3-boys.
    This is the tracking list.

1.  Nightfever
2.  Tragedy
3.  How Deep Is Your Love
4.  You Win Again
5.  To Love Somebody
6.  I.O.I.O.
7.  Stayin` Alive
8.  Too Much Heaven
9.  Nights On Broadway
10. Jive Talking
11. How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
12. Massachussetts
13. Where I`ll Be

You can listen here to parts of two tracks of the album.
For more info about this album surf to the Amazon site.
For more info (in German) about the group Click here

  •  “The Record” is still going strong! In The Netherlands it’s at number 7 like last week. Australia: number 9 In America it went back up again from 113 to 96, come on America… buy that master piece !!
  •  Of course BGFCTM-EUROPE will pay extra attention to “The Record” during the upcoming Bee Gees radio specials on Dutch Radio. On the special page about the 192 project on this website you can read all about these Bee Gees specials and how to listen worldwide!! At this moment we’re receiving numerous enthusiastic mails from fans all over the world who are intending to listen to these shows!! Thanks so much for all these responses!!
  •  You’ve asked us for any tour news in countless mails and letters the past two months. This are mainly the plans so far: The group will be starting in March recording their new album. Release date somewhere in 2003 followed (probably) by a tour or at least some concerts as far as planned at this moment. For this year there might come one big special event as well. According to what management informed us this week. Details follow when available.
