Robin John: “Composing “Lose Control” was a journey fuelled by my deep love for EDM and House music in all its myriad forms, as well as older influences, such as disco, soul, R&B, hip-hop, the new wave era, and even bluegrass music. Indeed, my father’s musical style, and his pioneering work in disco (as the late, great Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees) has always been a profound inspiration. Add to that my passion for classical music, spanning from the baroque to the romantic era, and you have a tapestry of influences that have all shaped my musical style. I wrote “Lose Control” roughly 5 or 6 years ago during what was then a rather tumultuous period in my life. Feeling trapped in a self-imposed prison of sorts, I realized that perhaps just letting go and losing control might be my only chance of escape. It was about cutting loose the chaff in my life and discovering who my true friends were. It’s often said that true friends are few and far between, and I found myself hard-pressed to count even on one hand those who truly stood by me, beyond the fair-weather friends and “PayPal’s” who stick around only for their gain. The idea of letting go was immensely appealing to me, and I poured my thoughts and true feelings into this song. “Lose Control” is an embodiment of that raw, organic essence of freedom, a powerful reminder to break free from what holds us back and embrace what makes us feel most alive.”
