BEE GEES `New Years Eve Concert`

It`s been a great end of this millennium: the concert at Fort Lauderdale and it proved the boys were indeed millennium proof (something GSI mentioned already before on their site!!)

December 30th there were rehearsals and about 75 lucky fans were able to attend this event. The brothers even gave permission to use cameras.
The rehearsals lasted for about 1 ½ hours and then the fans were asked to leave.

Then of course there was the nice brunch for the BG fans organized by Terri Bridge. (be sure to visit her site)Always great eating and drinking together with a group of other fans.
While eating their eggs, bacon, sausages, assorted bread, fruit etc., everyone was already thinking about the big event which would start in a few hours now.
The doors of the venue opened at 7.30 p.m. and as the concert wasn`t completely sold out, people were able to upgrade their tickets.

You could buy lovely BG merchandise like mouse-pads, key-chains etc. At 9.00 p.m. the comedian started to entertain the audience. It was now getting closer and closer when he left stage again at about 9.35 p.m.
The clock points at 10.10 p.m. when the back ups and band come up and after them our boys.
First there was a great intro then of course lots of famous BG tunes as well as the tribute to Andy and songs like:

Children Of The World
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Ellan Vannin
The version of You Win Again was great and Barry held the last note of For Whom The Bell Tolls for an eternity!!
The crowd was singing, dancing and clapping their hands.
At 11.55 p.m. the boys left the stage but the back up stayed.
One guy behind the scene entertains the audience for some minutes as the New Year comes.

They put up the New York Times Ball on the big screens and at midnight everyone gets showered with confetti and balloons.
Then Alan Kendall played lead guitar For Auld Lang Syne.
At 12.02 a.m. the Gibbs came back on stage for about 20 minutes.
They must have had only some moments to wish their families a very happy 2000 behind the stage!!
It was a really great show!!
